Architects of the Void

Timothy Patterson truly epic. I don't just mean 'big' or 'intense' epic; I mean it in the literary sense: a momentous journey, a heroic travail. I noticed that the first chord of the final riff is hinted at in almost every song. This tacit theme is threaded throughout the album to give the finale an enormous emotionality that is truly sublime. again I should specify not sublime as in just 'beautiful' but the more original meaning: the ineffable fear and awe at the beauty of the universe, the enormity of the void. Favorite track: Lord of Bones.
Old Man Doom
Old Man Doom thumbnail
Old Man Doom Them opening riffs just start tearing your wallpaper off and than the vocals kick in and it's death, doom, and destruction time. These doomy bastards know how to lay down some heavy motherfucking riffage that makes me want to grab my broadsword and my armor and go to war. Favorite track: Umbral Vale.
Osamu

Osamu textural riffs varying in style and tempo woven together to form dark tapestries of sound. These songs take the listener on a different journey with each play. Favorite track: Between Oder and the Vistula.

Behold! The Monolith Los Angeles, California

California-based Behold! The Monolith bend blackened doom and fast-paced proto-sludge on their latest sonic assault "Architects of the Void". Released in September 2015, Architects combines the ferocity of Celtic Frost, Black Sabbath, Mastodon, and Motorhead into an epic 50-minute opus. Legendary producer Billy Anderson has again expertly harnessed the band's smoke-belching locomotive style... ... more
